"Safebook Horizons - SDH joins international network to promote youth safety and well-being

Social Development Hub (SDH), representative of the Central Única das Favelas in Cape Verde, is one of the six partner organisations of the international project "Safebook Horizons - New Methodologies in Youth Work"funded by European Commission through the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA)under the programme Erasmus+ Youth.

The project, coordinated by Klub za Osnaživanje Mladih 018 (KOM 018) from Serbia, brings together organisations from Italy (Beyond Borders)Bulgaria (YES)South Africa (CUFA SA)Tanzania (Safe Island for Women and Children - SIWaC and CUFA Tanzania representative) e Cape Verde (Social Development Hub - SDH and representative of CUFA Cape Verde). With a duration of 30 monthsThe initiative aims to strengthen safety culture among young people through new youth work methodologies and the development of a new edition of the manual "Safebook.

Safebook Horizons addresses six essential dimensions of youth safety and well-being: peer violence, cyberbullying, discrimination, substance abuse, mental health and reproductive health. The aim is to create an informal network of youth workers and educators Europeans and Africans, empowering them with new pedagogical and visual tools (such as photography and graphic design) to promote the safety and inclusion of young people.

In Cape Verde, a Social Development Hub and CUFA Cabo Verde will be responsible for adapting and contextualising the Safebook methodologies to the Cape Verdean realitypromoting actions to training educators and young peoplecommunity awareness e international exchange. The SDH's role will also be to Articulate the participation of schools, youth associations and local organisationsensuring that the principles of the project are translated into sustainable practices of citizenship education, violence prevention and mental health promotion.

Cape Verde will play an important role in the cultural and social adaptation of these methodologies, contributing to safer, empowered and more aware youth communities," said the president of the local organisations, Susana Duarte.

Safebook Horizons reinforces the commitment of the SDH and CUFA Cape Verde to strengthening local capacities e fostering transformative young leadersin line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, in particular SDG 3 (Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Effective Institutions).
